It’s the end of August, and it’s sure been a month. I went to my first WorldCon in Seattle, and it’s been strange getting back to “real” life after that. I don’t typically get to be around many creative people in my day to day life, and especially not people that are interested in Fantasy and SciFi books, of all things. I think I did a decent job in collecting ribbons for being my first time…

Besides getting to meet with Alex and Aca, part of the Triple D crew, I also made it into a table talk with Fonda Lee! She was just as cool in person as one would think, and I’m proud of myself or not vibrating with anxiety out of my chair. I also met an up-and-coming author at that talk and went to hers another day: Katie Wu, whose book Madder Lake will be released by Harper Voyager. She was such a sweet, kind person, and I’m certainly hoping the best for her!

Being in that environment and able to talk about writing and industry got me truly fired up for my own projects. While I still intend on releasing Tinder Saint in 2026, I don’t think I’ll be diving into the edits for it just yet… instead, I’m pivoting back to Mortal Teeth.

This is a project that I wanted to try and pitch for traditional publishing when I first started it. It’s fully outlined, and has started to get the SP treatment of being constantly reworked. Before I fall into that hole, I want to get the first draft completed. While I don’t think I’ll be able to fully complete it by end of year, I can get in spitting distance of the end. After that, it’ll be working on query packets for it and editing for Tinder Saint.

Updates

The Shadow’s Prey proofreading is complete (as of last night), and the cover is ready! I’ll be working on getting the files fully sorted and uploaded to the distributors this week, so we are on time for the November release!

I’m looking into different ideas to make a nice swag pack, which I will be sharing information about on socials and here once everything is ready!

Coming Up

September is for swag, socials, and finalizing files. It’ll also be for writing, and I’d like to get my first MT goalpost completed by end of month.

October will hopefully be a bit less stressful with regards to things on the backend. I’ll need to start trying to figure out my social media things, and will hopefully be deep in MT writing.

November is release month! Honestly it seems a bit further away that it needs to be, but I wasn’t comfortable setting the release for September, and October is more for spooky books. So, November it is! Depending on things go, I may also approach some local places to see if any are interested/open to having book signings.

December is my birthday month! It also tends to be my most productive historically, creative wise. Hopefully, I’ll be rounding up to the ending of MT…

I think that’s all for now… thanks for reading! Eventually, I’d like to expand some of the things I talk about here, going into other issues as well as themes and specifics regarding my work… but for now, I think it’s more about developing a habit more than anything, and trying to get over my own anxieties about yelling into the void.

I think it’s working?
